Bookkeeping Franchise Well Placed to Weather Recession

The Local Bookkeeper is experiencing a huge increase in demand and October 2008 was its best month yet.
The 12-year old financial experts help businesses to manage their finances better, more important than ever as banks continue to withhold credit and receiverships soar (up 238% in the past year).
Whatever the economic weather, businesses will always need their finances assessed, payroll organised and so on.
And the potential client base is enormous, with 4.7 million small to medium businesses in the UK.
Mike Southon, author of ‘The Beermat Entrepreneur’, outlines the importance of having a ‘financial cornerstone’ in small businesses: expert advice on a company’s financial position, how to manage cash flow and for other situations where expert financial knowledge is required.
Paul Dawson, a former account manager at a law firm, became the ‘Local Bookkeeper’ for Southend-on-Sea in April 2008. It’s early days, but already he’s growing the business.
“I am ahead of my targets, which means I have had to already recruit my first member of staff,” he says. “Now I’m already on the hunt for another talented individual to expand my team.”
