Pizza Franchise Caters for Phone Users
Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:40AM Papa John’s has launched the UK’s first mobile web ordering site - another reason to buy a Papa John's franchise.
The use of mobile internet in the UK has expanded massively in recent years, with current estimates suggesting that up to a quarter of the population now use the internet on their phones.
The leading pizza franchise already sees around 10% of orders coming from customer phones despite having no tailored mobile website and this has led to the development of the new site.
The new Papa John’s mobile ordering site, which is now live, is a fully-functioning version of the main website, but optimised for mobile phones to ensure a more efficient and quicker purchasing process.
Simon Wallis, Senior Director of Marketing at Papa John’s, said: “We are delighted to become the first pizza company to offer customers this service here in the UK.
“The market in mobile web ordering is just starting to take off and we were keen to be the first company in the pizza industry to tap into this potential by delivering increased functionality to our customers.
“Our new site provides pizza lovers with a new channel to order, making it easier for them to arrange pizza delivery when they are out and about. Our basic principle has been to keep everything to one screen where possible to keep everything fast and simple.
“This means that customers still have the functionality of the Papa John’s website including full menus, pizza customisation, repeat orders and store selection but with added benefits such as geo-location, which automatically detects the nearest store, and SMS confirmation, in addition to the standard order confirmation emails.
“This makes the mobile ordering site ideal for people who are in locations where it is hard to talk or they would prefer not to speak on the phone, whether it’s on the way home on a bus or train, or in the pub.”
This new technology launch is just the latest development by Papa John’s, which has been at the forefront when it comes to digital ordering, making it a worthwhile UK pizza franchise opportunity.
The company was one of the first to launch online ordering in the UK and currently sees over 26% of all sales via the web, an increase of 42% from 2008. Papa John’s is targeting a minimum of 30% by the end of the year.
The Papa John’s mobile website includes a number of key features such as, store selection with postcode or geo-location, a full menu, repeat orders and discount coupon code entry.
The new site has been built by GHMC London using the latest advances in mobile web technology.
Simon adds: “Customers will find that all their web history, profile details and past orders are retained on the site providing a quicker ordering process."
