Delivery Franchise Dabbles in Antiques

A delivery franchise had the unusual assignment of safely delivering an antique London bus that was only one of five of its kind in the world.
Pack and Send was asked to collect, pack and ship the rare, valuable model, which had been bought at an auction for a European collector.
The Trolley Bus, which was about the same size and weight as a small moped, was collected from the auction house by a Pack & Send vehicle and brought back to the Reading store for secure packing and preparation for the journey to Spain.
Expertise
The collection, packing and freight management service was entrusted with the job despite having only been launched in January.
Pack & send is clearly forging a reputation for expertise in shipping fragile and valuable items safely and securely.
With the bus’ moving parts carefully secured, the model was shrouded in Cell Aire antistatic wrap to protect the glass, paintwork and internal electrical cabling from the build up of static during its journey. It was then covered in heavy duty bubble wrap and packed in a custom-made triple walled carton to complete the inner coat of protection.
The carton was then injected with Pack & Send’s unique foam cushioning which expanded to provide a tough 8cm layer of foam cushioning above, below and around the model’s sides, and ultimate external protection was provided by building a wooden crate around the whole carton.
The package was then transported by road on a three-day journey to the south of Spain, during which Pack & Send could track the movement of the cargo every step of the way.
Pack & Send are able to help businesses and consumers across the UK with more conventional requirements too. Their range of domestic and international courier services and collection and custom packing solutions are ideal for safely transporting anything from spare parts to works of art.
Pack & Send are planning to open 240 stores across the UK some of which will be owner- operated through a franchise license.
