Fitness Franchise Targets Thrifty Customers

Mayor officially opens fitness franchiseThe fourth énergie Fit4less centre was opened in Canterbury at the weekend by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury.

The £16.99 all-in monthly customer fee has been devised by the fitness franchise to appeal to recession-hit communities and for people looking to exercise on a budget, and those that have little need for luxuries.

Following a £0.25m refurbishment, the Lower Bridge Street venue will offer a ‘no frills’ fitness venue for spending-savvy and health conscious consumers.

The fitness club offers state-of-the-art equipment with personal viewing screens and clean spacious changing facilities; but will not have pampering extras such as spas, steam rooms, and saunas.

However, management state having a cheap member fee does not mean standards drop.

General manager Andy Ingham said: “We have already had a great response to the opening and would like to personally thank the Lord Mayor for his support.

“We’re delighted to bring a good quality but reasonably priced fitness club that people can use to keep in shape without having to worry about contracts or large monthly bills.”

Chief executive at the énergie group, Jan Spaticchia said: “This is a very exciting concept that we believe will do well in this economic climate.

“We are looking to continue to introduce Fit4less to multiple towns and cities across Britain through our successful franchise support scheme, which empowers people to own their own business and be their own boss.”
