How to buy Franchises For Sale

There are a number of key considerations when deciding to buy a franchise.
Here is a list of do’s and don’ts.

What you should do:
  • Find out what franchises are available on franchisesforsale.co.uk and draw up a shortlist.
  • Assess all franchise opportunities carefully, always ask questions and talk to other franchisees.
  • When you find the right franchise, investigate its financial prospects. Thoroughly research performance figures, access management figures and look at three years' accounts - if possible.
  • If you need to raise finance, ask your bank if it will consider a loan for the type of franchise you're considering.
  • Do your own market research into the competitors in your area.
  • Draw up a business plan.
  • Check the franchise agreement and seek professional advice.
  • Get in touch with, and use the website of, the British Franchise Association, which can help you check the credibility of franchise opportunities.

What you shouldn’t do:
  • Don’t take up the first opportunity before investigating alternatives.
  • Never hurry in making a decision on which franchise to buy.
  • Avoid paying for anything up front which is non-refundable, like a deposit.
  • Do not commit yourself before you're completely sure.
  • You must not assume that a business that works elsewhere will work in your area.
  • Don’t solely rely on any forecasts provided by the franchise seller.
  • Never sign any agreement without first taking legal advice.
